Teach them the truth about the greatest gift. LOVE. Training up a child while becoming a godly paren

2 John 1: 4. It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5. And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

The primary example of this kind of love is Jesus, who showed it through His life and actions. It includes loving one another as well as walking in obedience to God's truth.

My heart hurts for our youth. They are constantly exposed to false teachings. The one thing we have to get right as parents is teaching them love, biblical love. This is where we have to get on our knees daily approaching the throne of God the Father and petition Him for wisdom, discernment, grace, mercy and guidance. The world is trying to distort the word love and lead our children to believe it means something other than what the bible teaches. Parents we have got to be ready. Our Children are about to face some harsh realities that they need to be prepared for. They need a foundation of truth in love that can stand the test and attacks of a world view that will relentlessly seek to kill, steal and destroy them. Robbing them of peace, joy and eternity if it can. This is war on a spiritual level. Are you up for the task? Today is the day, you must start today.

Philippians 1:9-10

9. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10. so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

John 15 :13 say, Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

The word love has been abused, twisted, and often taken out of context. The world is dumbing down it's deep and sacred meaning. True love comes from God. Does God command us to compromise His truths in order to love? Not at all. If you truly love someone you do not compromise God's truth to accommodate their feelings or life style choices, you love them with it. An act of love will never be an accomplice to disobedience to the truth of God's Word. To do so is not love.

Carefully and prayerfully examine a situation, desire or an emotion before you call it love. It might be greed. When you say I love something. Is it God's love or would the words want, desire, or covet be a better fit. Lusting after something is a form of greed not love. It says I desire something for my own pleasure. It is not serving it is self serving. Lust and greed will set out to overtake something or someone at devastating cost compromising truth in order to satisfy their desire. Lust and greed falsely justify actions twisting and compromising truth in order to convince others to agree with or be accepting of their sin and disobedience.

Colossians 2:8 ESV See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ...

Three greek words are used for love in the Bible. Agape is "love: the highest form of love, charity; the love of God for man and of man for God." agape embraces a unconditional love that serves regardless of circumstances.

Agape Love in the Bible

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, ESV)

John 3:16 shows us a selfless sacrificial love. This is a sacrifice for our sins that we may have eternal fellowship with God in heaven. Our response back to God should be love through gratefulness and trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35, ESV)

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. (John 14:21, NIV)

Here Jesus says that His followers show their love for Him by obeying Him. Love is commitment and conduct.

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. (1 John 3:16, ESV)

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8, ESV0

Phileo love. Philia refers to brotherly love and is most often exhibited in a close friendship. Best friends will display this generous and affectionate love for each other as each seeks to make the other happy.

The Scriptural account of David and Jonathan is an excellent illustration of phileo love: “After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. . . . And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself” (1 Samuel 18:1-3).

Since phileo love involves feelings of warmth and affection toward another person, we do not have phileo love toward our enemies. However, God commands us to have agape love toward everyone. This includes those whose personalities clash with ours, those who hurt us and treat us badly, and even those who are hostile toward our faith (Luke 6:28; Matthew 5:44). In time, as we follow God’s example of agape love for our enemies, we may even begin to experience phileo love for some of them as we start to see them through God’s eyes.

Eros, love is the physical, sensual intimacy between a husband and wife. It expresses sexual, romantic attraction. This Greek term for erotic love is portrayed in the Old Testament book, The Song of Solomon. Eros Love in Marriage. God is very clear in his Word that eros love is reserved for marriage. Sex outside of marriage is forbidden. God created humans male and female and instituted marriage in the Garden of Eden. Within marriage, sex is used for emotional and spiritual bonding and reproduction. As its name indicates, eros is passionate or sexual love (eros is the source of the English word erotic). While eros is important within a marriage relationship and is created by God (see Song of Solomon), it can also be abused or mistaken for storge love. The Bible is clear that sexual immorality (out-of-control eros) is a sin (1 Corinthians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 4:3)

1 Corinthians 13:1 tells us, If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.

But the greatest of these is love.

Love is a selfless action.

Romans 5:8: But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Love is constructive.

In Marriage between and Man and Woman love works together to build something that will bring glory to God. It requires selflessness and personal sacrifice.

If we teach our children through God's Word what love really is, then when Satan tries to deceive them they will have wisdom and discernment to know the difference between the world's false love and true Biblical love. They will know that being obsessed with someone or something is not love but is instead greed, coveting and or lust. They will know that sex out of marriage is sin. They will learn that sex between a man and woman who are married to each other was created by God to be enjoyed by husband and wife, build families, and bring glory to God. They will learn what the Bible says about homosexual activity being sin.
